PRINCE OF ASSYRIA - “SONG TO THE SIREN”

When was the last time you heard a heart-wrenching singer/songwriter album? Well, when was the last time you heard a superb, heart-wrenching singer/songwriter album? Exactly! No offense, but all  the Bon Ivers aside, it was probably Sophia. Prince of Assyria’s album Changing Places is, in my humble opinion, a masterpiece coming close to what The Infinite Circle did to me. Just listen and if you are not convinced by “Song To The Siren”, try this one!

CHET FAKER - “DEAD BODY”

Built On Glass is Chet Faker’s long anticipated LP and it’s a musical journey and challenge alike - a contemporary approach of a singer/songwriter still confined to all the boundaries that had been set in the ever-stagnating world of lush melancholy. Inappropriately, I picked the most stereotype song of the album (you know, i love the melancholy and atmosphere). Anyway, go grab that album and float into the weekend.

DOWNLINERS SEKT - “SILENT ASCENT”

Did everybody’s darling Burial start under a new moniker? Well, all jokes aside, Downliners Sekt deserve the attention. Give this aural pleasure a thorough try.

A good friend of mine recommended Jemapur to me. I followed up on their latest release Microsleep and the title track had me floored.

DILLON - “4EVER”

I remember seing Dillon perform at Wedding Dress, a small fashion event in Berlin district Wedding (now you get the pun). I was sitting with friends closely huddled together underneath a tent with heavy rain pouring down to witness one of the most intimate and melancholic performances in my life. This girl really poured out her soul.

Leave aside the cover art might be rather terrible, BPitch Control might not be the right label, Dillon might not have a smashing top single like “Thirteen Thirtyfive" on The Unknown and she probably won’t go back to good old “Contact Us"-times. All that taken into consideration, I must still say I have so much respect for her as a true artist with a kind of honesty barely anyone else has. "4ever" might be the closest representation of my emotion sparked laudation.
