This song is a heavenly trip of rhythmically epic proportions.

It’s no secret that US band Teengirl Fantasy is one of my favorite projects in this world. After their fabulous last album I have been craving for a new release.

Well, “Tracer” is out soon but - without spoiling it for all of you and passing a final judgment - I must say it is rather a disappointment to me.

The whole cd has some genius ideas regarding rhythmic patterns and production (it features Laurel Halo, Romanthony and Panda Bear) Nevertheless there is only one song that had some ”coherent” appeal to it. That is “EFX” with superb vocals by young L.A. singer Kelela.

B1. Teengirl Fantasy - Cheaters (John Talabot's Classic Vocal Refix) by Hivern Disc

A good friend of mine showed me this tune today and to be honest I wasn’t that blown away by it. This, however, is not due to a lack of the track’s quality, but rather due to the fact that it is a remix of my last year’s absolute favorite work (have a listen here). The approach Spaniard John Talabot chooses with his version of this track is entirely different from the orginal. While the original is dark and deep (especially on the vocals), Talabot opts for his signature sound of laid back house-disco delivering a warm, summer-like feeling. Don’t get me wrong - the result is really good, but the original is just better. Decide for yourself.
